InterFaith Works has a 30-year history of serving seniors by addressing issues of isolation and loneliness in aging. The Senior Services Department organizes community-based services that promote activity, socialization and life-long learning, in order to empower older adults to age with dignity. In keeping with the mission of the agency, Senior Services programming reaches a broad spectrum of ethnic groups, builds bridges of understanding among the wide diversity of seniors in the community, and promotes respectful care for our elders. Our services include:
Senior Companion Program: Senior Companions are volunteers ages 55 and over who make a difference by providing assistance and friendship to adults who have difficulty with daily living tasks, such as shopping or paying bills. Senior Companions give families or professional caregivers a much needed time off from their duties, run errands, and often provide friendship for their clients. There is no cost to have a Senior Companion; income-eligible volunteers receive a tax-free stipend and mileage reimbursement.
One-to-One Program: One-to-One matches trained volunteers with isolated nursing home residents, to provide regular weekly visits, alleviate loneliness and strengthen residents’ circles of care.

We are a local, family-owned and operated company and began serving seniors and the disabled of Monroe County in Rochester, NY in 2007. In May of 2017, we opened our doors to serve older adults in the Onondaga County community. While being independently owned and operated, we also have the support and resources of our Touching Hearts at Home national franchise organization in Minneapolis, MN. A local, family-owned business with the national reach of the Touching Hearts franchise is a great combination to provide the highest quality of personalized care for our clients and their families.
All of our caregivers are carefully background-checked, trained, insured and bonded. We also have administrative and supervisory staff in our Syracuse office, as well as our Rochester branch available 24/7 to ensure our clients’ needs are met. In short, we are large enough to meet a diverse range of client needs and small enough to know each of our clients intimately.
We work in collaboration with elders, their caregivers, and experts in elder care like social workers, geriatric care managers, certified home health agencies, licensed home care service agencies, residential program managers, and other professionals who are best positioned to determine which companion care providers maintain the highest standards of care and service. If you would like to know more “About Us”, please ask us for references from our clients and referral sources. We think this, along with our 10 years of experience in the field, will give you peace of mind to engage Touching Hearts to help you or your family.
We hope you will call us today to discuss how we might meet your needs. We will be more than happy to meet with you at your convenience and at no cost or obligation.
